Keeping it Real I’ve drawn and painted for over 60 years, and art has been a constant pursuit in my life. Art is a passion that has never been disappointing except when I mess up as we all do. I started formal art education in college where I learned to paint in oils, but I later switched to watercolor painting, being inspired by Andrew Wyeth and Edward Hopper. Their superb composition and design are what painting is all about. Today I look at the wonderful watercolor portraiture of Mary Whyte and Tampa resident Dean Mitchell’s landscape, as well as Thomas Schaller and Gary Tucker. I’ve been fortunate enough to be collected by many businesses and institutions in Tampa and by many private collectors. The New Horizons International Music Association (NHIMA) is a worldwide organization comprised of more than 250 New Horizons groups with 10,000 members. Some played music during their school years and stashed their instrument in a closet, or attic while the demands of work and raising children took center stage. Others dreamt of being a musician but never had the opportunity, or the money to pay for lessons and instruments when they were school age. Both groups find themselves now at or near retirement with children grown and gone, fewer responsibilities, but just as much desire. The NHIMA provides opportunities for adults to be involved in a band – whether it’s for the first time, or the first time in a long time. Together we learn and perform in a friendly and positive atmosphere. More Info

Every Thursday from 4 to 8 pm, the Tampa Museum of Art offers Art on the House where admission prices change to pay-as-you-will, and visitors choose whatever admission price the y want to pay. Bring the family and celebrate 100 years of art in Tampa with exhibitions that emphasize ancient, modern, and contemporary art . Beginning at 4 pm every Thursday, walk up to the Welcome Desk and tell the Visitor Experience Representatives the admission price you chose to pay for your visit to the museum.
